The Tallis Chamber Orchestra was created in 2005 and performed its first concert in 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington.  The repertoire of the Tallis Chamber Orchestra includes classical music from the 16th century to the present and generally performs without a conductor to have the feeling of chamber music.

The B’nai Israel Kavanotes singing group was founded to enhance the worship a B’nai Israel. The word Kavanotes is a play on the word “kavanah” which means “to pray with deep spiritual intention.”

SCAW is deeply grateful to everyone who participated in the concert for donating their time and talent using the universal language of music, song and dance to promote peace.  The performers included:

St. Mary School Liturgical Dancers (below) was formed in 2005 with 5 members under the direction of Elizabeth White. The group continues to grow each year as the school students promote dance as a form of praise to enhance liturgies and school celebrations.

Suzuki Talent Education of Wilmington began in 1978 under Lorraine Westermark to raise beautiful human beings through the tool of music.  Mrs. Westermark teaches violin privately and also at St. Mary School. The violinists performing tonight are from her studio and St. Mary School.

Julia Walker Jewell is a composer in both the sacred and secular fields.  Her works range in style from orchestral pieces in the classical tradition to jazz pieces for her six piece group.  Included in her work are pieces for children, which almost always have a message of peace, love and tolerance.  The Children of Peace Choir is a small group of girls, some of which are or have been in the children’s choirs at Wrightsville United Methodist Church, where she is Choir Director.

The GLOW Hand Mime Ministry
Wilmington Celebration Choir was formed by the Wrightsboro United Methodist Church and is currently directed by Joey Gore. In 1997 Pillar Records was created and features over 10 musical artists along with the Celebration Choir. The Celebration Choir and the Pillar Family of artists travels and presents concerts through the Southeastern US.

The GLOW Hand Mime Ministry was founded by PJ Bolduc, Director of Music for Children and Youth at Pine Valley United Methodist Church in 2008.  Since then, the 15 member troupe has performed at many church events locally and nationally, including SonPower , a 1,000 voice youth choir conference in Orlando, and Pilgrimage, a Methodist conference of over 16,000 youth in Fayetteville.

I am
I am fast and helpful
I wonder why some animals have to be caged up,
I try to help my mum tidy up,
I care about wildlife,
I am fast and helpful,
I love my family,
I worry about global warming,
I cry when animals die,
I am fast and helpful,
I hope that my family will always be happy,
I trust Sophie,
I admire my mum,
I wish that the world could be happy,
I am fast and helpful.
